About the Author

Hi, I'm Luxna Srinivasan. Today, I consider myself the luckiest girl on the planet. Having an amazing family which dotes on me and friends who cherish me- what more could I ask for?

And you may wonder, what are your qualifications like? First and foremost, I'm the apple of my Mom's eye; my dad's princess, the reason behind a few hundred smiles (hope to hit a million soon!). Pretty much, an ordinary 19-year old with extraordinary dreams!

I'll be reading Medicine in King's College London in order for me to carry out a lifelong ambition I hold dear: being part of 'Doctors Without Borders' (MSF), traversing oceans to deliver emergency medical aid to people affected by violent conflicts, deadly epidemics and disasters.

My devotion to helping others stems from the fact that seeing others smile makes me smile. The lack of smiles on the faces of victims of bullying is what propelled me to write "The Dark Voices".

Bullying is a widely neglected societal problem all around the globe. With the cloak on anonymity that the Internet offers, cyberbullying has become such a pertinent and pervasive issue today. With so many lives being lost due to bullying, we definitely have to up our ante- more has to be done to tackle the issue. Yes, in the words of Mother Teresa, "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples," and this is why I seek your support to make a difference.

I live my life by these three guiding principles:

1. "Not all of us can do great things but we can do small things with great love,"

We may not have the means to perform great deeds but that should not make us give up. With passion and determination, even the impossible seems achievable. Every small deed counts to making you a better person. And to me, being a good person comes first.

I wrote and illustrated my first book, "The Adventures of Princess Prisha and Prince Pavlo", a children's tale revolving around the main characters performing various good deeds around the world. I hoped to send a message to all children that every one of us is capable of doing good to others; I wished for them to emulate the values depicted through the book.

2. Whatever the outcome may be, it's for the better

I don't mope. Whatever the outcome turns out to be, I assure myself that it is the best possible outcome for me. As much as the other options may seem more "glamorous" on the surface, we ought to remember that all that glitters is not gold. Be grateful for what we receive and make the most out of it- sucess and happiness is sure to come your way!

3. Do what makes you happy

I do what I do because it gives me satisfaction; it gives me happiness. It is only when I'm happy that I'm able to make others happy and thus, I make sure that the activities that I engage in on a daily basis are those that I enjoy. Each of us have our own desires and aspirations and doing things simply to please others never works- it only leaves you resentful and unfulfilled. Always follow your dreams, even if the world opposes you, and you will find joy!
